Network for Women’s Rights in Ghana (NETRIGHT)
NETRIGHT was started by a group of individuals and organisations as a response to identified gaps in the approach of CSOs working on women’s rights issues. NETRIGHT believes in feminist leadership and ‘power within’. The AWDF grant will be used to support the organisation of the Ghana Feminist Forum, a series of feminist dialogues and the documentation of the history and works of the Ghana Feminist Movement.

The National Association of Women’s Organisations in Uganda (NAWOU) is an umbrella organisation of women founded and women led organisations that registered as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in 1993. Their mission is to promote the growth of a strong women’s movement in Uganda that advocates for the rights of women and enhances their social-cultural, economic and political status. With this grant, NAWOU will strengthen the livelihoods, incomes and businesses of smallholder women farmers by training them and linking them to agricultural, financial and insurance services.

Nation Association for Women’s Action in Development was founded in September 2010 by a group of women led by Mrs. Patience Muramuzi with a vision of creating a society where women and girls enjoy social, economic and environmental justice. With the grant, NAWAD will mobilise the project community to take action against VAWG and support the promotion of women and girls’ mental health through the #PaintMyHut project. The project will also use radio to educate the community on issues of women’s mental health and VAWG.

Moving the Goalposts (MtG)
Moving the Goalposts was founded by Sarah Forde in 2001 to bring girls together to play football while addressing problems that girls in Kilifi – Kenya faced such as high school dropout rates, early marriages and early pregnancies and providing them with opportunities to realise their rights and take up leadership roles. With this grant, MtG will amplify the voices of women and girls to advance SRHR among girls and young women. They will train parents and teachers who are the primary agents of socialisation /influencers of girls and organise football games to mobilise and educate girls and young women on their SRH rights.

Most at Risk Young Mothers and Teenage Girls living with HIV Initiative (MOYOTE)
Most at risk young mothers and teenage girls living with HIV Initiative (MOYOTE) was started in 2011 by Edith Nyambura to support young people who were infected and affected by HIV. MOYOTE aims to improve the quality of lives of young mothers and adolescent girls living with HIV/AIDS. The grant from AWDF will help MOYOTE to build the capacity of young women infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in advocating for the integration of mental and emotional health and wellbeing services into existing HIV/AIDS response services.

Mengbwa: Actions Jeune
Mengbwa: Actions Jeune was set up in 2002 by Ateba EBA Medjo Carine Michelle and Sandrine Bourgeois to empower single mothers, to fight social injustice against women, and to fight against HIV and AIDS. MAJE works to contribute to the development and empowerment of women, with a gender-sensitive participatory approach, that respects the sustainable management of the environment and supports girls and women in various ways. With the grant, MAJE will establish and strengthen a network of 200 actors made up of diverse professions to provide comprehensive care for survivors of violence.

Legal Centre for Gender-Based Violence Association
Professor Bonita Meyersfeld founded the Legal Centre for Gender-Based Violence Association (Lawyers against Abuse-LvA) to provide a highly specialised, integrated legal and psychosocial services for survivors of violence. With the grant, LvA will empower women and girls in the community to advocate for increased access to justice among survivors of violence and ensure an improvement in State actors’ response services to mitigate VAWG.

La Floraison ASB DRC
La Floraison ASBL was founded in 2008 to address challenges related to the inability of women to defend their own rights and interests, and the lack of women and girls’ participation and inclusion in local government. The grant awarded is to help support the active and meaningful participation of women and girls in the implementation of the National Action Plan II of resolution 1325 (2019-2022) on women, peace and security along with other laws that promote women’s rights such as the parity law, the new family code, law on sexual violence, and the law on gender equality.

Key Affected Population Health and Legal Rights Alliance (KESWA)
KESWA was established in 2010 to facilitate the improvement of the human rights status of all sex workers in the country and address the challenges sex workers faced. The grant will be used to support the work of the organisation including strengthening its financial systems and programmes. The grant will also help them to strengthen their general work around enhancing economic options for sex workers and promoting the recognition of unpaid care work, including sex work as work.

Kenya Network of Women with AIDS (KENWA)
KENWA was formed in 1993 by 5 Women Living with HIV (WLHIV) as a self-help group to support other WLHIV who were facing HIV related stigma and discrimination. KENWA is a national organisation with a mission to improve the quality of life of women infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The grant awarded will be used to commemorate the 2020 World AIDS Day event to promote the rights of women and girls living with HIV/AIDS including issues of mental health and emotional wellbeing.
