The project will therefore contribute to the promotion of women’s rights against the predominant gender-based violence.

$50,000 to enable the organization conduct a strategic plan for three years and build capacity of their staff on monitoring and evaluation as well as building capacity of women living with HIV on treatment literacy. The grant will help SWAPOL to have a clear plan that will map the organization’s priorities for the next three years and which will be informed by women’s realities on the ground.

$1,000 to create awareness around the issue of abduction and rape and forced marriages which are very rampant in some rural communities in South Africa. This gender based violence committed against young women and girls in the name of “culture” i.e. ukuthwala (abduction and rape) usually affects girls aged between 12 – 17 years who are forced into marriages.

$80,000 over two years to support the programmes and institutional development of PWN. The grant will strengthen the participation and leadership of women living with HIV&AIDS in the national response to HIV&AIDS in South Africa.
