Project Alert was set up in January 1999 by Dr. Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, to promote and protect the rights of women by providing information on violence against women/young girls, advocacy against violence against women/young girls and provision of practical support services to female survivors of violence. The organisation also operates a shelter that provides a safe space for survivors of violence. The grant will help them to enhance the capacity of community groups to support the campaign to eliminate violence against women and girls (VAWG). The project will also provide support for rescue and referral services (legal, medical, shelter) for survivors of VAWG.
