$1,000 to organize advocacy meeting with relevant stakeholders in Gombe state to discuss issues of gender based violence. The project will also link vulnerable groups to legal and free health care service providers as part of the 2011 16 days of activism against gender based violence.

$1,000 to develop, print and disseminate IEC materials with messages reflecting on gender based violence both in English and Pidgin English and distributed to motorists, cyclists on the streets, at private and commercial parks, taxis, tippers, lorry and tanker garages and motorcycle parks.

$1,000 to organize a day’s sensitization workshop to build the capacity of adolescent and young girls between the ages of 15-25 years in secondary schools and tertiary institutions in Ibadan to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence.

$25,000 to support the organization of the Second National Feminist Forum in 2011 in Lagos. The Forum is intended to provide space for women to demand justice for unfavourable situations, influence policies and legislations in Nigeria.

$15,000 to conduct a survey on the incidence of sexual violence and abuse against young girls in high schools and tertiary institutions in 2 States (Osun and Oyo) in Nigeria. The research will provide solid evidence from which specific policies or policy directions to education, health and social welfare authorities could be recommended and also help WARSHE to map out the nature and direction of future advocacy work.

$10,000 to organize educational activities on issues of HIV/AIDS and otherSTI’s for female sex workers and small scale traders in Ajegunlecommunity.Selectedinterestedfemalesexworkerswillbetrainedin various income generation skills. Part of the grant will be used for institutional support including the purchase of a computer and internet connection.

$30,000 to support a 30 minutes documentary showcasing best practices at three levels of governance and profiling women from different political parties that have excelled in their public office; to organize 2 major seminars to build a support system for women aspiring to political positions in the 2011 elections and to support the National Parliamentarian Forum and use the platform to engender reform processes and mentor more women into political offices

$12,000 to organize a public lecture for young women and girls in Nigeria as a means to celebrate African Women’s Leadership Excellence and Achievement. The eventwillbe in honour of Ms. Leymah Gbowee, Co-Recipient of the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.

$8,000 to conduct an awareness creation programme in five local government areas on the newly adopted HIV anti stigma law in Niger.

$20,000 to select and reward brilliant young women achievers in the field of new media; and to make a documentary of the award ceremony for dissemination and to translate the documentary into 3 languages.
