Nelly*is a survivor of sexual\u00a0violence who has persistently\u00a0resolved to overcome stigma,\u00a0rejection, fear and suicidal thoughts\u00a0that threatened to immobilise her\u00a0after she was raped in 2014. GVRC Project Participant\u00a0Transcending Sexual Violence: Providing Support\u00a0for Survivors through the Nairobi Women\u2019s Hospital\u00a0Gender Violence Recovery Centre .It has not been an easy journey. With the assistance of counselling\u00a0staff and members of a sexual violence support group at the\u00a0Gender Violence Recovery Centre (GVRC) in Nairobi, she has made\u00a0tremendous strides in her recovery. Currently, Nelly is positively\u00a0channeling her energy to transform the lives of survivors of sexual\u00a0violence by supporting children who have undergone abuse in the school where she works.<\/p>\n
