{"id":7799,"date":"2016-12-12T12:43:43","date_gmt":"2016-12-12T12:43:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/africlub.net\/awdf\/?p=7799"},"modified":"2019-02-06T10:52:56","modified_gmt":"2019-02-06T10:52:56","slug":"leading-from-the-south","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/awdf.org\/OldSite\/leading-from-the-south\/","title":{"rendered":"LEADING FROM THE SOUTH"},"content":{"rendered":"<span lang=\"en\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8351 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/africlub.net\/awdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/logo_tres-idiomas.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"260\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\"><em>\u2018Leading from the South (LFS)\u2019 \u2013 a new fund to resource women\u2019s rights activism in the global South.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leading from the South Fund is a global grant making programme aimed at providing support to women\u2019s organisations, groups and movements around the world to lobby and advocate for their rights. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initiated in 2017 and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the fund supports activism devised, implemented and led by women\u2019s rights organisations in the global South.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is jointly managed by three regional women\u2019s funds and one global women\u2019s fund, each with an independent yet complimentary approach.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Four administrators of the fund are:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">African Women\u2019s Development Fund (AWDF): Africa and the Middle East<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mujeresdelsur.org\/sitio\/index.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fondo Mujeres del Sur (FMS): Latin America<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sawf.info\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">South Asia Women\u2019s Fund (SAWF): Asia Pacific<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/fimi\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FIMI International Indigenous Women\u2019s Forum (AYNI): Global Indigenous Women<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span lang=\"en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Global South, women\u2019s organisations and networks play a crucial role in influencing the policies of governments, leaders, communities and other actors to achieve Global Goal no. 5: gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls.
