{"id":48,"date":"2015-03-09T12:32:48","date_gmt":"2015-03-09T12:32:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asdhostingservices.com\/awdf-2\/?p=48"},"modified":"2017-08-04T12:09:14","modified_gmt":"2017-08-04T12:09:14","slug":"arts-and-culture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/awdf.org\/OldSite\/arts-and-culture\/","title":{"rendered":"Arts, culture and sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We focus on supporting organisations that <b>create and share new, feminist narratives about African women <\/b>through literature, sports, music, crafts, film, photography and visual art.<\/p>\n<p>These organisations and groups use popular culture and art to build confidence in young women, take women\u2019s rights issues to wider audiences, and strengthen positive narratives about African women.<\/p>\n<p>These efforts may result in events and mediums with strong women\u2019s rights themes, like film and music festivals, feature films and television, art exhibitions, and training and research. They may also support sports with positive messaging for women and girls.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, these organisations will seek to achieve the following goals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mobilise a new, younger demographic to champion women\u2019s rights.<\/li>\n<li>Challenge negative stereotypes of women.<\/li>\n<li>Train new female African writers, artistes, and athletes.<\/li>\n<li>Create more narratives, music festivals, documentaries, and research projects that promote women\u2019s rights.<\/li>\n<li>Create more activities organized around the AWDF\u2019s Women In Film Forum.<\/li>\n<li>Document, popularise and share narratives of African women\u2019s lives, and increase exhibitions of their contributions to culture and the arts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/africlub.net\/awdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/PWN-young-girl-dancer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-large wp-image-5073 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/africlub.net\/awdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/PWN-young-girl-dancer-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"PWN young girl dancer\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/awdf.org\/OldSite\/wp-content\/uploads\/PWN-young-girl-dancer-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/awdf.org\/OldSite\/wp-content\/uploads\/PWN-young-girl-dancer-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We focus on supporting organisations that create and share new, feminist narratives about African women through literature, sports, music, crafts, film, photography and visual art.
