Candidates for the Fellowship are expected to have both a record of significant professional achievement and a desire to share their perspectives on global development with a broader international audience. The Fellowship is open by nomination only.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">While the fellowship is non-resident and not full-time, it does require a significant and sustained time commitment as fellows write opinion articles, participate in interviews with local and international media, and speak at international conferences. All expenses related to the fellowship are paid, including certain media-related travel costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">Please note, this not a fellowship for journalists or others trained and working in communications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">AWDF&#8217;s Capacity Building Specialist, Nafi Chinery, was chosen to be one of the Institute&#8217;s Fellows and this is what she had to say about her experience:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\"><em>&#8220;Being an Aspen New Voices Fellow has been an enriching experience for me in building my leadership and communications skills. It is a space for shared learning and dialogue; exchange of experience and expertise. Aspen New Voices gives you limitless opportunities to shape your ideas and communicate these. As an African woman this opportunity is very personal to me and l am not taking this for granted.
