I&#8217;d love to read her material&#8221; was one of the tweets I got in response to Famia&#8217;s incredible performance at AWDF and Alliance Francaise&#8217;s recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.africlub.net\/awdf\/browse\/2800\" target=\"_blank\">International Women&#8217;s Day celebrations<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">So just who is Famia Nkansa?<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2841\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2841\" style=\"width: 453px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.africlub.net\/awdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Famia.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2841\" src=\"http:\/\/www.africlub.net\/awdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Famia.jpg\" alt=\"Famia Nkansa\" width=\"453\" height=\"604\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2841\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Famia Nkansa<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">Famia Nkansa is a writer, poet, blogger and social commentator who is still trying to scatter her words like pebbles and write her way back home.\u00a0She is currently is in the final stages of completing a novel and a book of short stories. Women walking, always,<\/p>\n<p>hand in hand with voices. The voices say how to behave.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The voices say when you have failed. The voices say,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cto be female and Ghanaian is to be doubly African.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To be doubly African is to be even more defined by journalists and history books.<\/p>\n<p>To live with having footnotes the world shows no interest in learning to read.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the dreams these women have\u2014where they are here, not halved but whole\u2014<\/p>\n<p>they wear mascara on their labia instead of lipstick, study economics instead of<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>teaching, study sculpting instead of econ and proclaim things that make no sense.<\/p>\n<p>They teach their children how to use a new broom the first five times.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Collect the twigs on paper.
