\nAgnes Utunga Phiri is the Business Development Manager at Malek Group of Companies (MGC) in Johannesburg, South Africa. Prior to joining MGC Agnes worked with Afroes Transformational, a digital gamification and technology company that develops and distributes uniquely African mobile games-based applications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before venturing into Private Sector, Agnes had a long term career with UNDP as a Communications Specialist spanning over 20 years. She has undertaken consultancy work with UN Women, UNFPA and ILO Southern Africa on issues of Gender, Girl Child Empowerment and promotion of Maternity Protection for Informal Workers. She was also part of the UN Observer Mission to the first South Africa Democratic Elections in 1994.<\/span><\/p>\n

Agnes has coordinated, co-edited and produced a number of publications: Opportunities and Challenges of using ICT for improved public sector performance (Case Studies Malawi, Zambia and Lesotho); Best Practice Documentation on Providing Integrated Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV Services for Swaziland Family Life Association Swaziland; Guide\/Manual on Providing and Implementing Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV Services; and UNDP Capacity Utilization of National Volunteers for Mitigating HIV\/AIDS in Zambia; Africa Women Leadership (Gender Culture and Development); UNW Africa UNiTE – From Regional Campaign to a Vibrant Movement to End Violence against Women and Girls.
\nAgnes is a Cherie Blair Foundation Mentee Alumni.<\/span><\/p>\n
