{"id":11571,"date":"2019-08-23T12:12:13","date_gmt":"2019-08-23T12:12:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africlub.net\/awdf\/?p=11571"},"modified":"2020-12-10T11:03:23","modified_gmt":"2020-12-10T11:03:23","slug":"voiceandchoice-state-of-women-in-sadc-barometers-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/awdf.org\/OldSite\/voiceandchoice-state-of-women-in-sadc-barometers-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"Voice And Choice &#038; State of Women in SADC Barometers Launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11572\" src=\"https:\/\/awdf.org\/OldSite\/wp-content\/uploads\/Seychelles_700x0_80_700x0_80.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/awdf.org\/OldSite\/wp-content\/uploads\/Seychelles_700x0_80_700x0_80.jpg 700w, https:\/\/awdf.org\/OldSite\/wp-content\/uploads\/Seychelles_700x0_80_700x0_80-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gender activists from across Southern Africa launch the<a href=\"https:\/\/genderlinks.org.za\/what-we-do\/sadc-gender-protocol\/sadc-protocol-barometer\/sadc-gender-protocol-barometer-2019\/\">#VoiceandChoice 2019 Barometer\u00a0<\/a>alongside the \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/genderlinks.org.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/StateOfWomenSADC2019rev2.pdf\">State of Women in SADC 2019<\/a>\u00a0report.<\/p>\n<p>The Barometer has been produced for the last eleven years by the Southern African Gender Protocol Alliance, a network of Women\u2019s Rights Organisations that campaigned for the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development in 2008, its updating and alignment to the Sustainable Development Goals in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with global and regional trends, reflected in the #MeToo, #TimesUp, #TotalShutdown and related campaigns, the 2019 Barometer departs with past tradition in focusing specifically on Sexual Reproductive Health and Right (SRHR).<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 #VoiceandChoice Barometer is the first civil society shadow report on the recently adopted SADC SRHR strategy. \u00a0It measures 100 indicators in seven thematic areas including Sexual and Reproductive Health; adolescent SRHR; safe abortion; GBV; HIV and AIDS; harmful practices and sexual diversity.
