A<\/span> ground-breaking <\/span>funding initiative <\/span>for the promotion of women\u2019s rights.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An exciting new fund has just been launched by the African Women\u2019s Development Fund in collaboration with ten other partners in an alliance that is aimed at breaking down barriers to investment and supporting gender equality.<\/span><\/p>\n

THE EQUALITY FUND<\/span>, expected to reach $300000000, is funded by the Government of Canada and reflects the Canadian vision to support women around the world. It is the first of its kind in a bold initiative to harness the collective power of the members of the alliance to mobilise resources in novel ways to promote women\u2019s rights.<\/span><\/p>\n

The eleven members of the alliance bring on board varying expertise and strengths and comprise the following:<\/span> The MATCH International Women\u2019s Fund <\/span>(The MATCH Fund), the <\/span>African Women\u2019s Development Fund <\/span>(AWDF), <\/span>Calvert Impact Capital, <\/span>the <\/span>Canadian Women\u2019s Foundation <\/span>(CWF),<\/span> Community Foundations of Canada <\/span>(CFC), <\/span>Philanthropy for Advancing Women\u2019s Human Rights <\/span>(PAWHR), <\/span>Royal Bank of Canada <\/span>(RBC), <\/span>Toronto Foundation, World University Service of Canada WUSC), Oxfam Canada <\/span>and<\/span> Yaletown<\/span> Partners<\/span>.<\/span>
