The “16 Days” Grant

Violence against women in Africa is endemic. African women and girls are subjected to many forms of violence, including rape, female genital mutilation (FGM), sexual assault, human trafficking and widowhood rites. Violence against women occurs in all aspects of women’s lives and encompasses abuse of women’s civil, cultural, economic, social and political rights.

The AWDF’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Grant supports campaigns for the International Day of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, recognized on November 25.

This grant enables African women’s organisations to coordinate activities around this event, and continue to raise awareness and support for women in the face of these threats.

In order to streamline our application process, AWDF is currently accepting proposals online. We strongly recommend that you read through our application guidelines before you submit an application.
