With the current onslaught of the outbreak of Ebola in Liberia and the threat it continues to pose, AWDF is supporting three of its grantees in Liberia to help intensify educational activities around the prevention of Ebola. In all, AWDF has awarded $20,000 to three women’s rights organisations in Liberia to undertake a series of educational activities to intensify prevention education and knowledge around this deadly disease.

The threat of the Deadly Ebola Virus has caused a tremendous fear in the lives of Sierra Leoneans especially, women, young girls, youths, and Children who are extremely vulnerable in pro- poor communities of Sierra Leone. The fight against the Ebola Virus is a Global concern, and our community based women’s organization, the Community Initiative Strategies for Empowerment Against Poverty (CISEAP – S/L) has conducted an effective community outreached sensitization and awareness raising campaigns on the prevention strategies of the Ebola virus through the sharing of information, education, and communication materials(I E C) on the Ebola causes, Signs and symptoms, and above all, the prevention aspect of the virus. Our organization has also collaborated with other women’s groups in the donation of chlorine’s and buckets as a good practice in the fight against the Ebola virus. Currently, we are engaging on contract tracing of affected Children and women to re-unify them in their respective communities and as well, provide them with rehabilitation support, psycho – social support, and livelihood support to keep their lives going. On behalf of the management of CISEAP – S/L, we are apparently extending an appreciation and a big thank you message to the management of AWDF for their kind gesture in helping organizations from our neighboring country Liberia in the fight against the Ebola Virus. We are also taking this as an opportunity to request from the management of the AWDF to assist our organization with logistical support in the fast tracking of the contract tracing of affected women and Children in Kenema District. We hope hearing from AWDF.
