Amina Alhassan Bin Salih

Amina Alhassan Bin Salih is a Development Expert and Practitioner who is a firm believer in Gender Equality and the power and capability of the Woman. She is well trained and experienced in a wide range of Programmes in both Governmental and Non-Governmental settings.

Amina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Masters in Development Administration (Gender and Development option) from the University of Westminster, London. She is a Ghanaian living in Ghana.

As a Gender Expert, She has a rich experience in building capacities for Gender Equality and Feminist Ideals. This expertise is showcased in her work in the implementation and design of donor funded Programmes.  Under her stewardship as a Gender Specialist, her Programme the GOG/ IFAD/ AfDB funded Northern Rural Growth Programme (NRGP) under Ministry of Food and Agriculture won the 2013 Gender Award from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for West and Central Africa. Her Capacity Building work has been varied in that it covers different stakeholders but focusing mostly on women; Traditional Rulers, leaders of farmer based organizations, District Assembly Members, Presiding Members, Women in leadership Positions, Banks and Development Partners working as facilitating Agencies. The main focus has been in the interest of women.
A good work history includes working with The Electoral Commission of Ghana, TechnoServe (an International NGO from The USA), Working as the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist in The Programme Management Unit of the AfDB funded Gender Responsive and Community Development Programme under the Department of Women, Ghana. She has also participated in important Conferences that deliberate on issues concerning women, The UN Gender Experts conference 2011, two UN sessions on Women in New York. All these experiences has made Amina a highly innovative Woman who believes that with the right Capacity Building Programmes, Women’s rights and Well-being will be assured. According to her, working together to achieve this goal is the best way forward for women!
